Founded in 1964 by Harvey Goldsmith, Hart Systems provided physical inventory sheet processing services to the retail community, growing into the largest service of its kind in the 1970s & 1980s.  In 1990, Hart pioneered the rental model for self-scanned physical inventories, developing the Hart Self-Inventory System – the first system for retailers to conduct their own physical inventories utilizing bar code scanners and technology on a rental basis.

By 1992, Hart put all of its efforts and resources into the Hart Self-Inventory System.  Today, Hart Systems is the largest rental supplier of bar code scanning equipment to the retail community. 

After tens of thousands of individual store inventories, and with well over 2,000,000 store associates having used our scanner applications, we’re in a unique position to act not only as an inventory service provider… but also as an inventory consultant – bringing to you the best practices of the leading retailers.

Today, our scanners and software are used in all segments of the retail industry throughout the US, Canada and in 27 countries throughout the world.
